Dr. Stephen C. Fields

Dr. Fields, the creator of Roliton, received his BS in Chemistry with Honors at Bucknell University and his PhD in Organic Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  A McElvain Scholar, he continued his success for 19 years in Discovery Research at Dow Agro Sciences. As Discovery Research Scientist Leader, he led the vision, strategy, and execution for Cross-Disciplinary Teams for Natural Products, Weed Management and Insect Management developing SARs based on biological activity and CAMD of individual enzymes and target sites. In his role as Research Scientist at Dow Agro Sciences, he developed and executed novel chemical syntheses, new methodology/routes, structure/activity relationships and patent protection strategies, which ranged from creating leads to advancing projects in Discovery Research. His syntheses, inventions, and work have been cited in 100+ publications, including dozens of patents.

After Dow Agro Sciences, Dr. Fields formed Custom Scientific Solutions (CSS), to create an independent line of scientific services. With extensive experience and research in the affect of chemicals on living organisms and considerable expertise in designing/improving synthetic routes of target molecules, he developed Roliton for the treatment and relief of cold sore symptoms. Recognizing that the outer epidermis (i.e., stratum corneus) is a layer of dead skin cells which acts as a major barrier to absorption, Dr. Fields resolved that Roliton roller balls can simply and effectively treat cold sore symptoms by enhancing penetration through the outer layer as an alternative to  expensive and invasive transdermal-physical-medical devices administered by physicians.

He discovered, that massaging the site of the cold sore with the perforated glass ball allows for microscopic removal and uplifting of the outermost skin in a sterile and painless manner, while delivering the necessary active ingredient or medication beyond the outermost layer for deeper tissue penetration to the site of the cold sore.  Similar to makeup applicators, the rollerball allows the smooth application of contents; what was needed was a way to apply medicine beneath the top layer of the skin as painlessly as possible.

Dr. Fields chose trusted remedies for Roliton, similar to those in other more costly products: a proven herpes virus fighting agent, benzalkonium chloride; a common anesthetic used by dentists that can be applied directly to the skin, anesthetic lidocaine; and an over the counter disinfectant, isopropyl alcohol.  With the perforated glass ball, Roliton  delivers this effective therapy just below the surface of the skin to quickly penetrate for an immediate onset of action and relief of cold sore symptoms.

Susie V. Heath

Susie, the owner of Roliton, earned her BS in Chemical Engineering, as a Darwin T. Turner Scholar, at the University of Cincinnati. After working as a Chemical Engineer in the manufacturing of paper (Champion International, IP), plastic (Monsanto Chemical), and consumer goods (Procter & Gamble, Fluor Daniel), she furthered her interest in the medical field joining Johnson & Johnson, Ortho-McNeil in hospital, specialty, and primary care pharmaceutical sales. After five years, she left to form SHEATH Corp and developed the proprietary Virtual Inventory System which has serviced billion dollar industries in the manufacturing and supply chain arena since 2006 with 100% uptime. At SHEATH Corp, she also invests and consigns in machining inventory. Her career continued to marry the best of her experience in the pharmaceutical, software, and manufacturing worlds, as a Software Sales Executive at Microsoft, dedicated to serve customers at Eli Lilly and Company.

Drawn to the unique method of delivery of Roliton, supported by trusted research and proven science, it is with great enthusiasm, that Susie apply her best practices and experience to further Dr. Field’s scientific theory and vision for cold sore sufferers.
